Changsha has been officially designated a National Tourism Hub City under China's 15th Five-Year Tourism Plan, one of only 32 nationwide. The core mission of this designation is visitor distribution — recognizing Changsha as a primary convergence and dispersal hub for domestic Chinese travelers. In 2025, the city received over 230 million visits spanning cultural experiences, night economy, and natural sightseeing. A city that attains national-hub status through the actual footprint of its own citizens has demonstrated its tourism appeal through the most concrete evidence available.
