Exchange, performance event held between Changsha Overseas Friendship Association, Chinese School of Lisbon
An exchange and performance event was recently held in Lisbon, the capital of Portugal between the Changsha Overseas Friendship Association and the Chinese School of Lisbon. Liu Hui, Standing Committee member and United Front Work Department director of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee, and Chen Xiaoling, minister counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Portugal, attended.
At the event, Liu Hui introduced the work done by the Changsha Overseas Friendship Association in recent years to asssit overseas Chinese youths in learning Chinese language and traditional Chinese culture. She noted that overseas Chinese youths are the backbone of the future overseas Chinese community and hoped that they can learn happily, grow up healthily, and develop into well-rounded individuals who are knowledgeable, caring, and responsible. The Changsha Overseas Friendship Association will maintain close cooperation with the Chinese School of Lisbon to promote the development of overseas Chinese language education with practical measures, to better spread the traditional Chinese culture and Huxiang culture overseas, and to facilitate exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations.
Chen Xiaoling appreciated the Changsha Overseas Friendship Association's long-term commitment to spreading traditional Chinese culture overseas, adding that the Chinese Embassy in Portugal will make more efforts and carry out more cooperation with Changsha in supporting the development of overseas Chinese schools in the future.
The Changsha Overseas Friendship Association presented a batch of traditional Chinese culture books and teaching supplies to the Chinese School of Lisbon. The two sides also signed an agreement on exchanges in Chinese language education. Cai Wenxian, president of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce in Portugal and honorary principal of the Chinese School of Lisbon, thanked the association for supporting Chinese education for overseas Chinese youths.
