Changsha airport handles 221,000 passenger trips during Qingming holiday

Hunan's airports witnessed 270,000 passenger trips during the three-day Qingming Festival holiday that ended on April 6, the Hunan Airport Group said on April 7. The daily average volume increased by 19.1% compared to the same period in 2023 and reached 101.1% of the level seen in 2019, showing a significant recovery. A total of 15,000 international passenger trips were made during the holiday, reaching 46.6% of that in 2019.

Among the airports, Changsha Huanghua International Airport handled 221,000 passenger trips during the holiday, growing by 15.1% from 2023 and reaching 102.1% of that in 2019. Its international passenger throughput hit 7,000, about 28.3% of the figure recorded in 2019.

Most travelers spent the holiday on leisure travel. Domestic tourists mainly flocked to Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Xi'an, Kunming, Haikou, Xiamen, and other key cities and tourist cities. Currently, Changsha Huanghua International Airport has opened air routes to eight international and regional passenger destinations such as Seoul, Don Mueang, and Kuala Lumpur, while Zhangjiajie Hehua International Airport is connected to nine international and regional passenger destinations such as Daegu, Gwangju Muan, and Kuala Lumpur.
